Hi, I'm new posting anything, but have been lurking for a couple of years. Usually I muddle through with readings by seeing what others have written about theirs, but this situation is so important to me and I'm confused about the whole thing.

I've been trying to get into this apartment. Everything seems to be going well, then not, then okay, and now not again. At this point I'm really worried that they don't want me as a tenant but I don't know why they wouldn't just say so.

I've been on a waiting list for a long time and finally had a call from the site manager that a first floor apartment was opening up. This was Dec. I missed the call and it went to vm. I kept calling and leaving emails. Finally in January she called me back and said she could mail the application (was still really bad weather) and she did. I filled it out and my son took it up to her office. She wasn't in, so he left it in the drop box. She called the next day and told me it had gotten wet and she had tried to dry it, but still couldn't read it and so I needed to fill out another.

The saga continues with her asking for docs, I send them, she calls and says she needs another, I tell her I already attached it, she says "Oh yes, here it is, sorry." I was shown the apartment and she said your application looks good; we'd like to get you in by the 15th. I get an email a few days later that she needs 3 more docs, plus there was a mistake on the application and should she mail another. I email back yes, but just to keep things moving I prepared the 3 docs and emailed them the next day. I get an auto-reply that she will be out of the office until the 13th. I send the email again, no auto-reply, so did she get them? I call and go to vm.

I asked Yi what would happen if I called and left another message. I get a very clear one line response that says essentially "Do it, don't hesitate, time is running out," so I call and leave another vm asking if she received it. Then I decided, this is nuts, and I left a second vm asking if I could just get an appointment and do it all in person. I asked Yi what should I do now to move things along. Yi's answer: 26.2.3>27 Does this mean stop trying, it's all over? (Sorry about the length of this post, probably TLDR :)

The moving lines seem like a story to me. Every possible axle strap comes loose - but it seems you're doing a fine job of being constant in hardship, doing daily training work, attempting to drive the uncooperative chariot that is the rental office, and so on.

27 might reflect the reason for all of this - because you really need/want this apartment. So you're doing the Great Taming that's necessary to get it. There's a Wing of the I Ching called the Xugua that explains the Sequence of Hexagrams, and the one for 27 says this: "Things are tamed, and so there can be nurturing, and so Nourishment follows. Nourishment means nurturing."

I think the reading says you're on the right track - keep it up. But I hope the manager is better with tenants than with prospective tenants...

Hello, Liselle. You're a bit famous to me :) I've read a lot of your answers and suggestions to people about their readings, and I thank you for responding. And ha, I also hope she's a good manager.

I really do want to be hopeful about this. I don't want to push at her and make her upset at me (if I get in she'll be my landlady after all) but I also don't want to let things slip away.

tbh when I met her during the showing she struck me as somewhat scattered and overwhelmed, just learning the job but trying to be collected. When I was younger I was secretary to a commercial real estate broker, so I understand how it can be complicated and require organization to keep up with paperwork for 99 residents, and I do remember being new at my job myself. She did say the company just purchased the complex and that they were very short staffed. So maybe that's it. I might call the complex super just to see if he answers and can shed light. Mostly be calm until the 13th, and then re-assess if she doesn't call then.

We used to live in a rural area on some acres but had to move to the deep city closer to doctors, which I hate. Stressful, traffic, people screaming in the alley at 3 in the morning, and the worst is the sirens all day and night, knots in my stomach. This apartment is perfect for me: pine trees, walking paths, playground for the g'kids, grocery store a block away, ground floor instead of an elevator building, a real patio for my plants! The first phone call came out of the blue, was not expecting it, a huge opportunity that just dropped in my lap and I knew I had better be on the ball and not mess this one up.

I will look up the Xugua, Sequence of Hexagrams. Again, thank you! and I promise to post on here about what happens.

This is a good point. Many of us have had experiences like that.

So it's a balancing act - get what you need, but don't go too far. Have any of your readings sounded like you might be pushing too much? It doesn't sound like it, from what you've said. There are lines of 26 that could be like that, but happily you didn't get them. (26.1 and 26.5 probably.)

Still, it doesn't hurt to be aware of it and use common sense. Do you think you at least have enough paperwork completed and enough activity going on that you're "it" at this point - she won't turn around and claim she thought you weren't interested anymore and rent it to someone else?

It certainly sounds like that should be the case - you're keeping on top of it very well, and 26.3 encourages that.

Would you want to ask Yi about calling the super? Probably couldn't hurt. Then hopefully you'd know whether or not that's one step too many.

Thank you for your insight. I'm a lot more calm now. If it's to be, it will be.

I definitely have sent enough paperwork to demonstrate my continued interest in the place. And have certainly left enough vm messages.

Tomorrow is 13-Feb, when the site manager said she would be back. I'll take a pause and give her time to get caught up with the work that doubtless accrued while she was gone (and no assistant to cover her, seems like). I'll call on the 14th or 15th, see if she answers. If not, I'll leave a message reminding her that I have emailed the documents, ask again if they are indeed what she needs, and that I would like an appointment to bring originals and complete any other necessary paperwork in person.

If no reply, I will ask Yi if I should start by calling the super and maybe slowly move upward from there.

Uh, I think :-/ In any case, I'll proceed with care.

Will let you know how it goes. I like when others report the results of their readings, and maybe my experience will help someone else (and for the first time, I'm going to journal it, even if it's bad news :-]

Are these two voicemails pending right now? In other words when she comes back on the 13th, she'll find them, so daily taming work will still happen even if you don't call again? Same with tbe email with the 3 documents - will that be new to her too when she gets back?

If so I think that's all in keeping with the reading. With any luck your stuff will be part of the accrued work she catches up with.

Hi,

What about showing up at her office in person? Would that be too difficult to do?
And maybe calling to a land line, not a cellphone? Does she have one in her office?

I'm reading LiSe. I see 26.2 as saying you don't have to worry about the problems when you first mailed her your application (weather and such) and the fact that she is hard to reach, but line 3 speaks of being constant and reliable in your approach. Attaining a fine thing is not easy and it comes with duties so I think the advice here is to try to be "up to the task", without intermediaries, in other words, showing your interest in person. I think you have done everything you could at a distance, so more calls, more VMs are not going to work.

The way I see it calls and emails are fine, but nothing shows more interest and responsibility than delivering the docs by hand. It doesn't seem you are intrusive or annoying for approaching in person to deliver the necessary documents, since she hasn't been able to respond to your calls and emails. You don't need to tell her that you got in person to deliver the docs 'cause she didn't respond, just deliver them saying that you wanted to make things easier for her.
After all, it's a home, a thing to nurture you (27), this hexagram also calls you to use your teeth (your weapons, your tools) to get what you need.

I confess that I asked Yi again yesterday the 13th what should I do about the apartment, and I received 64 UC. I figured that to mean "it's too early, don't do anything too soon or you'll just get soaked." So I did not call, did nothing about it at all in the morning except worry a bit and deal with some various other family semi-crises that had nothing to do with the apartment. Around 1p I looked online at the mail delivery app to see what was downstairs at the mailbox, and there was a letter from the apartment!

So yes, Liselle, she did get the emails and vms and I did not have to risk annoying her with another call (so far I get the feeling she prefers email to any other form of communication, so I will be pleased to comply). She must have in fact seen my email last week in order for me to have received it in the mail today. It gives me a little more confidence.

And yes, lucuma, that's a very good idea to just show up in person. I will take your advice and bring this completed form, plus hard copies of all the docs I've emailed so far, and bring them directly to her. She hasn't always been in the office, but I can certainly try.

I know I sound like a weak little thing; I used to be fierce when my kids were little, but they're grown. I have always been painfully shy meeting new people, but have generally managed to cover that up. When I was in the workforce it was easier, business clothes are a sort of shield I think. And then I worked in tech support and there I was shielded by the phone. But I'm older now and somewhat isolated. Learning Yijing and reading everyone's experiences with that here on this site has made me think in different ways, and I'm very glad for it.

I'll let you know what happens next.

Hello! Don't know if anyone is still listening, but reporting back as promised ;-)

=====
Q. What more should I do for me to move in to the new apartment?

A. Hexagram 37.5>22

37. Family Members

Line 5:

The king grants there to be a house.
Do not worry.
Good fortune.

Finding one's place. There is no need to worry, things go well.
=====

I am all moved in to the new apartment!

The g'kids came over last Sunday and all of us had fun walking with the dog through the trees in the surrounding areas. Then the kids, my sons, and I all celebrated with a special dinner. They are coming tomorrow Saturday as well: I am a happy nana.

It's been a bit of a journey, but I wanted to relate it in case anyone reads this later (for myself, I do a lot of reading Yi's responses to other people's questions, maybe others do too).

I'd been consulting Yi almost every day (sometimes more than once) as the action on this apartment seemed to grind down and stop, and the prospect of getting it drifted further away. Won't go through each reading, but most of them told me to hold on, keep persisting, and give it time.

The manager had been out of the office since I first posted here. I had started receiving auto-replies; each week the dates were just pushed forward. Her latest auto-reply said she would still be out until March 6th. However, she (or someone) was apparently receiving the emails I sent with attached docs. They just didn't answer calls, return vm, or reply with email.

My optimist thought there might be some good reasons for this, medical issues, taking care of a family member, changing jobs, really anything (my pessimist said I'd been ghosted and they'd picked someone else : ) but without a local assistant I was stuck, and pretty much in despair.

One of the last hexagrams I received (since the wheels fell off my chariot :-D) was the one above, Hexagram 37.5>22.

I called again the next day, and someone answered the phone! It was the manager's supervisor who was now taking over duties temporarily. All the paperwork had come through okay, and I had my appointment with her to sign the lease and get the keys.

As it turns out, the manager had been out of the office for what the supervisor called "a procedure," which I took to be medical. That was the reason for all the readings afterwards that told me to wait calmly but quietly persist.

So I am moved in, the regular manager is back, and I now spend my days happily emptying boxes :-D

Very, very glad to hear this happy ending! Also grateful for the update, it really does help with understanding the hexagrams and lines.

Too bad the supervisor didn't show up sooner in some way, though. Harumph. I mean, a quick note saying the regular person needs to be out for a while but keep sending your documents - how hard could that have been? Instead of just a black hole.

Yes, that is true; communication could have been quite a bit better. But hey, all's well that ends well (as somebody somewhere once said :) I am so very happy to be here anyway.

I thank you so very much, lucuma and Liselle, for your help. I hope to require very much more help in the future. Thank you!
