Melissa, you asked 'what is the reason my stomach is like this?' and Yi's answer is 30.4.5.6 to 63.
There are people whom are well-versed in using the Yi in diagnosing illness and heath issues. I am not one of them, and would generally suggest that you rely on your doctor for medical advice. But reading a bit about IBS, it seems that the reasons for this condition are only being guessed at - but not entirely known - and most of the advice is about dealing with the symptoms, so ....
I'll explore some here, but please know I am not giving medical advice, and to take this with a huge boulder of salt. But if any of it rings true ...
The Oracle text for 30 says to 'attend to the cow'. People have been living with and depending on cattle for almost 10,000 years, and so what this brings to mind is advice that you should attend to what nurtures, supports and feeds you. It is not to seek great or foreign beasts but those that are already within our own domains. Perhaps to look closer to home, or within oneself?
Line 30.4 tells me that you should beware of quick 'flash-in-the-pan' cures or fixes (which our media and our culture seem to be filled with) - the solution here might not be found in simply taking a pill, or to simply do this or do that.
Line 30.5 is about 'gushing tears' and grief and lament, so perhaps your condition is tied to some unresolved grief or deep sadness, which you might explore and embrace - to 'bring it into the light.' Also, the Wings commentary talks about 'a departure from the sovereign and patriarch' so could this be about old family issues? Or perhas that you should seek something other than a 'traditional' cure?
Line 30.6 seem to go along with 30.5 - perhaps to not look at one's grief or sadness (or oneself?) as the 'enemy'.
With 30 you have the two 3-line trigrams repeated, so you have Li above Li, or the 'The light appears twice'; Li being associated with light, fire, clarity ...
The lower trigram Li might simply reflect your desire to have clarity about your situation.
But the upper trigram has three moving lines (4, 5, 6) which some would say is showing us that they are 'lit up,' that they are out off balance and in need of attention. So perhaps something - an emotion or memory (and think 30.5-30.6) is too hot, too burning, but at the same time it remains unseen by you (so you only know the symptoms).
The upper part of 63 is the trigram for the Abyss or Water. It might be suggesting that you need to go deep (or deeper within), to confront a fear that right now is hidden. It could also mean that in doing so you are creating choices for how you can respond (besides just the symptoms of IBS).
For 63, there are all sorts of takes on this, as it seems to indicate that you've already finished, crossed the river, the deal is done ... which could mean, look you've already found the cure (and just like Dorothy and her desire to go home) and just haven't realized it, or more direly that your search is already done - and you still haven't found the answer!
But for me 63 is about process, and a first step to seeking a cure or to walk a certain path is to be resolved in doing so. It may sound all too obvious, but to be 'resolved and settled' about the path you want to take is perhaps the hardest part of the journey. Do we 'say' we want to ... or do we actually want to ... ?
Sorry if I've rambled a bit too much. And any feedback - good or bad - is most welcome.
Best, D.
