What should i do now to improve our life?

Hello

I am new to Clarity and wish to thank Hilary Barrett for this opportunity.

Things aren't going too well, given covid times (not ill - just a lack of work), layoffs, book publishing mixups, etc.

So I asked Yi "what should i do now to improve our life?" - 'our' being my wife and I.

The answer I received was 11.1 to 46

The mixup with book publishing now sorted out thanks to 'pulling up thatch grass, roots entangled'.

I would appreciate your understanding of the primary and relating hexagram and changing line relating to my question.

Your interpretation(s) will help me discern other layers of understanding.

Also, what does it mean to 'Set forth to the south'?

Best wishes to all
Thank you

thank you your response diamant

i appreciate your interpretation/possibility.
it's credible

others say it has to do with 'being with like-minded people' or 'friends' near and far even aeons away

still others, like richard wilhelm, suggests . . .
“he must set to work, for activity (this is the meaning of 'the south') brings good fortune.”
also . . .
"Departure toward the south means work. The south is the region of the heavens between Sun and K’un, the two components of the hexagram.”

alfred huang says . . .
"'moving forward toward the south' indicates king wen’s punitive expedition toward the place called shu, which was the ancient name for sichuan."

dang ming-dao says . . .
"advance southward (toward the sun, open fields, and gentle winds)"

bradford hatcher . . .
"the direction faced when giving orders or assuming command"

by the way, if i go south (geographically speaking) from where i am, i will be met by the sea - about 8km away as the crow flies - and if we cross the sea, we'd end up in antartica - lol - couldn't resist saying that.

which leads me to wonder about how to interpret northern-hemisphere-centric cardinal-point-directions in the yi. I joked about heading for the antarctic but consider this, you know, if i continue 'south' from the antarctic then i find myself looking up to the 'north'.

finally i thank you again for your reply which caused me to consider yours and other interpretations. be well.

time to meditate on these responses

p.s. just came across 'dfreed'
"* South: the sunny side of the mountain; associated with Li, flame, clarity, seeing things clearly"
see here . . .

😂 You gave me a great giggle with that.
In that case, South sounds like a bad idea for you and your wife.

Yes, indeed line 11.1 shows 'grass', of the same type/genus, being pulled out together. Action is favoured. Then we get the notion of a plant again in 46. This time it's a new plant, one which has just started growing. There are so many different ways to interpret this cast. Anyway, here's some more food for thought - Tuck Chang says this about the South:

PS in 12.1, similar entities gather together and withdraw together, in 11.1 similar entities head towards the outer world together.
