Hi all, I just went to Hermetica.info and it's gone! No more luxurious free access to Bradford Hatcher's generous and wise work. Does anyone know if I can access the material somewhere new?
Thanks.

Since he released it into the public domain, no reason why I shouldn't post you a copy here!

Ah, no. I can't do it. I get "The uploaded file is too large."

I saw that the website is inactive. That's funny. I distinctly remember hearing that he'd paid to ensure that it would be available in for whatever counts as "perpetuity" in the 21st century. Well, maybe someone else will have an idea.

I don't know why his website went down: Brad told me he'd paid for hosting through to 2025 and got someone (unfortunately he didn't mention who, and I didn't think to ask) to act as webmaster. I do wish it were still there; I liked visiting, seeing his portrait and his wry note about 'having proved mortal'.

However - here's the book:

and also the Laozi (Daodejing):

@hilary, do you have the Gua Ming (name) file? That's another good one I use quite often.

Sorry, no, I seem to be missing that one. If you or anyone has a copy I'd be glad to upload it, though.

This seems like a terrible loss, if the site is indeed down permanently. Thankfully, it was indexed by archive.org on December 21, 2022 and most of what would have been available on the site at that time seems to be archived, including the books: https://web.archive.org/web/20221221015527/https://hermetica.info/

However, the last time a snapshot was taken -- January 29, 2023 -- it was returning an error. So it seems as if it's been down for a few days now at least. Hopefully it's a temporary glitch.

I hope it’s just a temporary issue. Like Hilary, I really love going onto the site.

I have all the books so I can just post links for my people. I’m putting together a course right now where I refer to them, so I’ll just go ahead and create my own downloads. I wasn’t sure if that was okay to do.

Yes, Brad wanted his work to be used, so that will be fine. Just keep them intact and with his name on.

His family have been asked about the website - obviously there are plenty of us who would like to help get the site back online - so hopefully it can be restored.

I don't believe he did actually release it into the public domain: the copyright remains intact and was bequeathed to his daughter. However, he did want the books to be freely available as digital downloads in perpetuity, so we should all share them freely.
