Hi there...

And now... some input from the one who drew this answer.

I'm a simple person... a purist of sorts, and that's the person the Yi was speaking to when it answered with 23 to 24. We have a wonderful relationship, the Yi and I, and with their help I'm enjoying more prosperity now than I ever have in my entire long life... not just monetary prosperity... but also friends, family, health, spirit... contentment.

And many of you on this forum have more than an inkling of the situation the Yi helped me out of to get to this prosperity I enjoy today.

I think my understanding of how the Yi talks to me about 23 finally came into the light when I asked the final time how to deal with my cat's ill health. Hoping they would again tell me it wasn't his time yet and would direct me through a course of treatment that would restore him to health... I drew 23 to 8 instead.

I now know after years of experience that when the Yi follows a hexagram with 8, they are simply telling me to seek the action or condition stated in the primary hexagram and when they follow a hexagram with 2, they are simply telling me to be receptive to that action or condition. So...

The Yi very simply told me it was time to seek his death. He was in pain. If the Yi had said 23 to 2, they would have been telling me to accept, be receptive, to his death... very simply. No final trip to the vet would have been necessary. 23.6 is a beautiful way to accept the end... the death of thing... sentient or otherwise... or the death of a relationship with a thing... sentient or otherwise.

In answer to my question whether there was a spiritual layering, I drew 23 to 24. The answer was crystal clear... and simple... but shocking... because at the time I WAS perceiving levels of sorts radiating out from a powerful center. They told me simply that our spirits exist... as the All as Martin said, and the only levels or layers are in bodies and out of bodies... no others... no hierarchy. It makes so much sense.

What I also found interesting was that they chose to begin the order of the "levels" with shedding a body (23) as opposed to returning to a body (24). I don't know why they chose that order. But I'm curious. Maybe someday I will. But it's okay if I don't.

I don't perceive of life or the life of my spirit as circular at all. When I think of a "circle" I picture a film strip spliced at the ends running through a projector in a loop... repeating the same scene over and over. I perceive of my spiritual life as being like reels of film feeding through the projector continuously... always moving forward. When one reel is finished, another is started... and the story continues and continues and continues.

Rivers aren't circular. Life, spiritual and/or otherwise, isn't circularly either.

Love,

Val

Jerry,

"Don?t we as individuals depend on just this idea for us to progress and have free will?"

That does pose a problem. The idea of ascension is inspiring to the human spirit, whether it's climbing a corporate or social ladder or attaining status within some spiritual hierarchy. But this too is part of nature?s circle. When we are young and full of ambition, we struggle to grow upward, to reach higher and attain significance. But when we mature (truly mature), our upward push diminishes. What continues to grow in these later years is our girth and breadth (think tree as in 46); even economically. We no longer strive to ascend above the mean but to expand within it.

But this is not the norm, unfortunately. More often later years brings remorse for what might have been. And in regret we seek to renew our youth. An older man takes a young wife. Or he buys gold for his neck (and hers), a red sports car, and vaingloriously spends the rest of his life as a desperate old man (or woman). Or, he retires into seclusion, living off his pension or social security, or perhaps begging if he was imprudent in his younger years to save. This is the average man.

So there still is something for the older man to aspire toward. But when we get there, it?s not always so clear exactly what that is. We can go the way of the average man, or we can aspire to something greater. But it?s doubtful that being higher in the hierarchy is what that is. Perhaps he mentors young men, counseling in the ways of progress. With his experience and wisdom he can prepare them for the truth of the years ahead. Isn?t this exactly what the Yi does?

Val,

Welcome back. I agree with you: life isn?t exactly circular. The dragon moves in coils, not circles. So perhaps cyclical is more accurate. That is how the sun and moon behaves. And night follows day, each day. Why would we be any different?

And rivers are circular, if you consider the entire cycle. It runs to the sea, rises to the clouds, which rains (again) over the earth and flows into the river.

As Pakua said, it depends on your focus. The ocean is not on the same level as the drop and yet it is, because water = water.

Ah I do believe Candid you read essences of thoughts and slice to the heart, all in a very professional way. My opening statement about dependence on spirituality and leading free will by the hand, was ment for the youth who still possess faith, not necessarly for the aged like my self (or prehaps yourself). It is my attempt to place into perspective the changes of human nature as we grow and understand. You latched onto this very quickly Candid. Circular indeed are all processes which require human interactions to produce results. Just as in nature all things lead to demise of them self if not by their own lack of good judgement, a rabbit in the open before the hawk, or a tree which is in the path of a tornado. No Blame.

The young devils' advocate, hmm, Jerry? Your statement: "Don?t we as individuals depend on just this idea [spiritual hierarchy] for us to progress and have free will?" was thought provoking enough to warrant a response. Actually, it still has me thinking.

I admit to being obtuse in my approach, I will concede to being a stirrer of inquisitive thoughts, but as a true {Devils Advocate} this may be a streach of some proportion as I cannot confirm the word Devil in any terms except when applied to jest or evil. Do I do a dis-service to the young?

Hi Candid...

Welcome back? Well thank you... but from where? I haven't gone anywhere.

I'm right here in the very alive city of Los Angeles. I'm in such a good job I can't even begin to explain it. I think I'm living a lot of people's dream. I'm working and growing in a field I love, digital post production. And I'm working for a company that is "the toast of the town." Our new facility, our state-of-the-art equipment and workflow process, our talent are all the talk of the industry on the West Coast now. We have tours of network, filmmaking and post production executives through here on an increasing frequency as the word continues to spread. And I'm a part of all that. Say halleLUjah! *grin*

I'm here with my family, and we've grown very close since I've been back. Even my son-in-law has learned to love his mother-in-law... if you can believe that... and vice versa... *grin* My grandson grows more affectionate toward me as he gets older, and I spend as much free time with them as I can. I've also reunited with old friends since I've been back, and there are a lot places to go and things to see with them as well.

So you see, Candid... I have my priorities. Do I want to sit here and type away all my thoughts at people I don't really know and who don't really know me and who don't really give a flip what I think anway... and not get paid for it? *grin*... or do I want to get up from this computer and go give and get some love and do some living? The answer is obvious... no?

I do check into the forum periodically, but I don't have time to read most that is posted and much less to answer it. I only have time to read about subjects I really feel interested. I have my email option set to receive mails only on subjects I've posted to, and this one just came up a couple of days ago. Getting 23 to 24 had a big impact on me when I got it. I was forced to really think about things... and give up previous notions. So obviously it's a subject I'm fairly excited about.

Actually, 23 got even more important to me since I first posted to this thread. I had my first physical in years at the beginning of this month. I got the results in the mail a couple of weeks ago. Everything looked really good and healthy (and I feel really healthy... feel great)... except for one little line... I have a life-threatening condition.

Of course, there was a note from my doctor to call her for a follow-up visit concerning the bad news... which I did. I called her the very next day. But I also got online and learned as much as I could about fighting this and restoring myself back to perfect health. In no time I had a game plan down of diet and exercise to try to do it without meds, and I got right to work on it. I went home that night and told the Yi with much determination (I'm definitely a fighter) that I'm going to beat this. I'm confident I can. And they answered 53 to 23.

What a let down, eh? But yeah... I'm gradually dying anyway... that's what happens with aging... kind of inevitable you know. The thing though is the Yi's message to me... the reason for my quicker than usual... quicker than I'd like pace to the next level is not so much my newly discovered condition, but rather a truth I found in line 2 that's not even alluded to in the W/B version. There is a danger connected with living alone... of not having a comrade to share food and drink with... to share a bed and responsibilities with... of trying, out of necessity, to do it all oneself. Suddenly I understood why the "men in grey" were in such a hurry for me to resolve my fear "before it's too late." Ah ha! My life depends on it. Well I plan to make it to retirement... and beyond! I have so many plans... so much to do... and it's just around the corner.

Oh... and I have a new grandchild on the way... due October 20. I have a lot of plans that involve her and my grandson as well... *grin & wink* But right now, Candid, my plan is to get up from this computer and go give and get some love and do some living. Here's some for you. It was nice chatting with you.

Love,

Val

LOL.. Val, you are a nut. And if I could meet up with you for a glass of r/t red wine to celebrate your success tonight, I?d do it in a heart beat.

I?m extremely happy for you. It sounds as though this period of your life has some huge blessings. Your grandson and one-to-be no doubt being one of the greatest. Great news on your gig, too!

Health does become an issue as the years add up. I can relate. Good for you that you?re fighting for what?s yours, and without unnecessary meds. There?s some 23 to 24, and 53 there too, I believe. I don?t think it?s a let down, really. 23 is inevitable, but taking back what belongs to you is also returning. I just finished my nightly workout for the exact same reason. Age and heart be damned.

Catch you on the flip flop..

Bruce

PS: Oh yeah... halleLUjah! *grin*

Hi Candid...

The reason above is only one of many reasons I love my job and the company I work for. Another reason is there's a gym on the lot. When I first went in to talk about joining, I told them I was concerned about the trainers being up to date on exercise for people over 50. So... the guy I spoke to did a lot of research on it. (All the more reason to join.)

And this is one of the sites he sent to me. I thought you might enjoy it as well... maybe get something useful from it.

Hi Val,

It must be great to love your job, or even just be able to relate to it and what you do there on some creative level.

My workouts are fairly uncomplicated, and pretty much in accord with what this article talks about. I use an ergonomic 60 lb. dead-weight set, and basically 'invented' a series of exercises dictated by what my body tells me; 3 sets of 20 reps to various areas. I need to work the lower body more, though.

This article is helpful and affirming. Very thoughtful of you to share it. Thank you.

Sorry Lise - I missed this:

Dobro: ?I asked the Yi about posting this idea here and drew 28.1.6.?

Lise: "Sounds like the Yi is telling you that you are overreaching yourself, posing a very human question to a universal principle. But.. hex. 1, quite creative to take the chance. Do it carefully because it is a very spiritual question (28.1) but don?t be surprised if is so far over your head that you drown in it (28.6). Or might hex. 1 mean that you are posing a question to Heaven himself?"

Yeah, I think this is a valid reading. Perhaps it's an esoteric question that can't be usefully discussed on an internet bulletin board, no matter how carefully it's done. I decided to post it in the end because of the 'without fault' valuations on the two active lines, and because 28>1 seemed positive and appropriate to the question.

Hi Val!

So good to hear you're doing well. As far as health is concerned, all of us must watch it as we grow older anyway. But I think much can be done with the mind.

Lots of love

In_the_now, you wrote "If anyone knows anymore about him, or other teachers in the UK, please let me know. Once they become well known they seem to stop being so accessible."

I do know a teacher, Dave Oshana, who is still accessible if you go to Finland!

Never mind! You can also find him in London!

Dave Oshana was a London-based Enlightenment Teacher until a few years ago when he started travelling out of the country to teach overseas.

Oshana still teaches in London several times and is worth getting to see.

The main website for making contact, getting on his mailing list and getting schedule updates is http://www.enlightenment-now.com/

There are several other sites and I will try to include the info if requested

Dobro: just to place a hiccup in here and throw this thread back to its beginning where your initial thought was.." should every individual develope to there fullest potential" then you took it into the realm of meditating on fullest potential.

First I believe we all actually do develope into our fullest potential if we consider our roots and advantages and disadvantages in our evolution of a lifetime. There are those who will venture into more than others and achieve more in comparison to others. This will be true for the acolites of (social good) as well as for the advocates of (social evil) both have a parallel in their developement along this line.

There for one must consider the truth of such a statement (all must develope to fullest potential) as false for we do not want the evil ones to develope to their fullest potentials, now do we.

I realize this was not you quote and probably just threw it into the mix for responses and this is just my take on this,,,your friendly advocate (the devil) and constant reader of your inspired wisdom.

Well, I think people should develop to their fullest potential, yeah. But in the first place, I think that not everybody who develops to their fullest potential will get as far as everybody else who develops to *their* fullest potential. I think that's what you were saying, yes? In the second place, I think that basically most people don't try to develop their potential. And finally, it's my suspicion that those numbers are built into every generation - that just as nature provides an approximate balance of males and females in our population, so nature provides only a very few 'enlightened' people for any given generation. And if that's true, then although it's good to develop your potential if you want, it's unrealistic to expect it to happen for everyone.

Mira, I believe you are correct, I see what you are calling essence as enlightenment, which if it is not supressed will grow into greater wisdom.

Yes Dobro, essentially this is what I am saying about developement as a generalized rule. I have no idea wheather most people choose not to develope nor wheather people dont try. I suspect many in the world just have to be satisfied with just not starving till the next crop comes in and dont think much about this search at all. As long as life flickers potential is there.
