But Frank says it's located in around mid spine, or the little heart? Would like to know more about that.
hi Meng,
same here, would love to hear more about the 'little heart'! Though empirically I can see how decisions may not in fact come from the mind but from the way we hold ourselves (spine)
rodaki
By the way, in Greece tradition has it that bridges were built over a sacrificial victim and there is a very well known traditional poem/song about a bridge that kept collapsing at nights until the head of builders sacrificed his wife (Maria I'm sure you know this one ) but I didn't know about the chinese one . . it makes much more sense knowing it!

This is commentary on Wilhelm's commentary, even though I don't believe you did it consciously. But it sure lines up well with:
"However, there are two prerequisites for a satisfactory political or social organization of mankind. We must go down to the very foundations of life. For any merely superficial ordering of life that leaves its deepest needs unsatisfied is as ineffectual as if no attempt at order had ever been made. Carelessness-by which the jug is broken-is also disastrous. If for instance the military defense of a state is carried to such excess that it provokes wars by which the power of the state is annihilated, this is a breaking of the jug."
But you go further, and say that taking the safe road isn't always the way, that sometimes it takes a leap of faith to get to the good stuff.
About the little heart or even better small heart this is the point Ming Men. this is the point of the so called Kidney yang. Which is viewed as the general fire(yang) of the body. With this point you can give people yang energy. It warms the gate of vitality.
Ming men controls the essences(the vital energy of your parents and ancestors).
There is this nice analogy from a cooking pot. This pot is filled with water, that is the availbele energy of man. But this energy is heated by the fire underneath. The water in the pot is the yin part of the power. The heat is the yang power. They both belong to the kidneys(the left and right kidney, the dualistic nature of the kidney. Ming Men gives the possibilty of motion(yang). Ming men is the active aspect of water. water is seen as the creative principle from which life comes into being.
In earlier ages, water was seen as primairy in the creation process. water is number one, the first created of the five phaes. Ming men is the yang line in kan, the soul as Bruce already pointed out.
If this Ming Men is depleted, than all organs lose some of their functions, yin and yang are deseased and changed. Then there is no place unaffected. And the strenght of our spine is a reflection of Ming Men. This is one of the most important points you treat with all kinds of back pain, or congenital problems.
How you can hold your spine as Rodaki pointed out is the most important way to show your real earthly and heavenly combined strenght.
Maybe Ming men(small heart) is also the spirit that is living in the well as Charly is telling us.
Frank
Frank , is it correct the Ming Men "s alternative name is "Door of Life" ?
The well is a kind of "door" to enter/reach the spring's water
So your cooking pot would similar to the dragon breath which would run across this web of awarness and interact with other beings through verbal and non verbal communication? In other words what you experience will eventually travel across the web and impact our awareness. Likewise, my reactions would ripple across the web to you!
ravenstar
Actually, I like the word charged, pertaining to the well. The idea of plugging into something ancient and infinite.
.....In Reiki, the Teacher passes on an attunment to the student called 'The Way Of the Fire Dragon'. The first step is called 'kidney breathing, which each inhalation we imagine the kidneys expanding with fresh energy. The breath is seen as dark blue in color. To complete the energy circuit through the body, we must contract an acumpuncture point known as the Hui Yin. This closes off the 1st chakra so energy collects in the lower abdomen....which is seen as a white mist collecting at the base of the spine. Once we feel a connection we imagine the spine as a hollow tube. The breath enters this hollow tube and rises to the skull (as this is done we imagine the mist turning blue then vilet as it penetrates the skull and brain). Then the 'fire dragon energy' is transferred by drawing the Reiki symbols then holding the tongue to the upper palate and with a 'puff' the teacher blows the energy to the student's crown area or 7th chakra.
Dora:... thank you for doing all these posts with chinese, it had never occured to me before o ) but I can actually learn a bit of chinese here! (or, well, understand a bit . .)
I believe that's a very extended tradition. The good with the WELL SPIRIT is that's a living person, maybe bewitched, but not murdered. And the sacrifice demanded is of mainly symbolic value, a little coin, a pin.in Greece tradition has it that bridges were built over a sacrificial victim
Hello Ravenstar,
Yes, using Hui Yin, the meeting place of yin and yang. is also used with psycological disorders. Interesting you were learned to close this first chakra.
The chakra that has to do with the stomach and spleen, the sequence of King Wen (post heaven) and not the pre heaven, the one related with the kidneys what I always thought.
This I learned from a website that I found on your site.
This was a real eyeopener for me. Thanks for giving these insights!
So you close the cycle from the world and can be in contact with the pre- heaven cycle, the 2nd chakra.
And this was through your awarness that I learned this, this what you are calling the dragon breath. And about this dragon the Su Wen says the fire in the water is called the dragon fire. When the dragon moves the fire comes out. This is the co called yin fire, belonging to the kidneys.
Frank
hi Ravenstar,
reading what you wrote about "The way of the Dragon" made me think of what I was reading recently about kundalini (including some pretty scary experiences connected to that). Are the two connected in any way? And are these things someone might experience without training? Years ago I had felt a moving sensation on my spine, it felt more like a flower growing there, from its base till the point of the shoulderblades . . never felt it again since but it stuck in my mind . .
rodaki
Drinking from the clear, cold spring depends on its central and correct position.
Here we have the ruler of the hexagram. It is the light line between the two dark ones in the upper trigram and represents the water within the well rim; hence the idea of the clear, cold spring. As rulers of the hexagram, it stands at the disposal of the others because of its central, correct postion.

hello again!
Hi ravenstar, it's only been a year since I've slowly started to realize things about flows of energy -my cynical streak didn't allow me to up to then and I'm still working thru that. I know there are so many things I do not know yet, things I would be too scared to look into without help from someone who knows better, but it's good to discover that some experiences were really real and not figments of my wild imagination!
And you are right not wanting to let Rosada's post to get lost, with it things felt to be falling in place, no?
rodaki
Hi rodaki, and yes it was all falling in place. I just didn't want the other to miss rosada's commentary for line 6.
As I was thinking of The Well, my mind jumped to what I had learned in astrology class about the 6th house. My teacher said the 6th house is not the house of learning, it is the house of Transforming. The 6th house asks that we respect and regain the perfection of our original nature. We were told 'if you are not living right, you don't have the right motivation, if your not performing right, if you don't feel secure about what you have or haven't got it's going to affect your health.
We were also taught that this is the ho use of critical adjustment as well as the ho use of illness and health. People who have it in their chart, have to help others, to be of service but first they have to heal themselves
We were told we have to take of ourselves and not expect other people to. And to develop skills that are useful and help others and get a job we like doing.
So the 6th house is about improving things, of trying to improve our performance whether we win or lose by it. Win or lose we're still going to improve our situation. We can always improved who we are.
What do others think? I know there's a few astrologers out there.....could the 6th house be related to The Well?
Also, 48.6 changes to Hexagram 57. On LiSe's site she says it is the blueprint or seal one carries. Is this blueprint our DNA? Is this about creating and evolving a nervous system that will allow more data to move through our consciousness? Is it about awakening brain cells that have laid dormant for a very long time.
And Frank, is the pineal gland (3rd eye) connected with the 6th line. After all it does open the mind of man to spiritual faith, through which all things are possible. Faith, or Belief is said to create an energy that is a thousands times more powerful than electricity. Certainly sounds like the Kundalini doesn't it rodaki?
Now we know the spine is the tunnel through which our consciousness ascends and the more our enery and awareness is 'uplifted' in the spine it will project to our brain, the frontal lobe (3rd eye), and the higher our level of awarness will be. Is this in keeping with line 6? Could it alter our frequency? Do the words (vibrations) we choose trigger codes that are stored deep inside our bodies from a cellular memory or our DNA?

Hi Rosada:48.6
Six at the top means:
One draws from the well
Without hindrance.
It is dependable.
Supreme good fortune.
...
48.6: «The topmost SIX, divided, shows (the water from) the well brought to the top, which is not allowed to be covered. This suggests the idea of sincerity. There will be great good fortune.»
Lege
Hi Rosada:
I wonder if Wilhelm and Legge had read the same line:
chinese characters, pinyin, usual meanings, WILHELM-BAYNES:
Maybe more straightforward:
井 jing3: well / spring / pit / mine / [THE] WELL
收 shou1: to receive / to accept / [ONE] DRAWS [FROM THE]
勿 wu4: do not / WITHOUT
幕 mu4: curtain / tent / command place / HINDRANCE
有 you3: to have / there is / there are / [IT] IS
孚 fu2: trust / sincerity / captive / DEPENDABLE
元 yuan2: supreme / primary / first / SUPREME
吉 ji2: lucky / fortunate / GOOD FORTUNE
[THE] WELL ACCEPTS NO TENTS
the well does not recognize political authority (1)
does not accept gang's «protection»
or else: do not commerce with the well (2)
THERE IS [A] CAPTIVE [INSIDE]
for there is a sacred spirit residing inside (3)
PRIMORDIAL
the most important, first thing
LUCKY
to remember it will be fortunate
Best regards,
Charly

(1) Also: general’s or governor's office when in campaign / advisors, lobbists, it reminds the YURTS of mongolian chieftains.
(2) Tents are also associated with LITTLE TRADE, travelling sellers.
(3) Also gods or goddesses.
(4) Gia-Fu version says: «WELL FULL. NEVER COVERED. HAVE FAITH. PRIME LUCK.»
From the site of Frank Kegan. Maybe more straightforward but a less personified well.

The well is there for all. No one is forbidden to take water from it. No matter how many come, all find what they need, for the well is dependable. It has a spring and never runs dry. Therefore it is a great blessing to the whole land. The same is true of the really great man, whose inner wealth is inexhaustible; the more that people draw from him, the greater his wealth becomes.
-Wilhelm
I think that's a very interesting remark you make here. The 6th line is the line of Spirit, at least for me, and the pineal gland is the place of were you can influence this Higher Spirit. (Pineal translated in Dutch is Pain tree , the pain we feel that we are driven out of paradise, that we are not One.)
In acupuncture you have a direct influence on this part of the brain at the point Bladder one, this is the point just near the eye on the inner side. And eyes as the mirror of the soul have a connection with your heart and also your etheroul soul.
And the 6 th line has a connection with the idea of paradise(especially this line).

But when we do plug into our own 'radio' doesn't the pineal magnetize a spiritual light that stimulates it to stand straight up attracting and releasing a tremendous amount of powerful energy?
