you lost me there AQ...mountains, lightening, a statue..is 27 ?..well i suppose the trigrams are thunder under mountain...but maybe you can explain the significance of the picture to you in that it represents 27 as nourishment. I'm not getting it

3 or 59

anyway, with first thought this is a 3, heaven and earth/winter and summer meat in a march-storm, but others might say it is a 59. That storm is sweeping away the winter.
acrylics on canvas, 200x150cm: leaving for spring. The title is about gathering geese who are in a constant dance of "before gathering". Because of the stormy weather, it is very hard to reach formation. They are gathering because they want to leave for the tundra-summer far to the north.

Hi trojan :( This is just what popped in my head. I am trying to do these pictures with a quick editing sensability. That statue is of a silent monk. I feel that Corners of the Mouth is about the balance of listening and talking as well as what you take in physically like food etc. But I also think in general people tend to lean towards talking too much and not listening enough, so I thought, who is a better example of the opposite? A Monk! haha.

I guess I would have liked to have words going from a mouth to an ear or something like that, but I didn't. I did it quick. This one is prolly my least fav. but it still does something for me internally with the images I chose.

Not good?

a geology of love (tailbone) : 150x200cm, acrylics on canvas.
In geological time we are only coming around for a very short moment, and we are made from the bones and minerals and food from all that went before us, we are made of star-dust indeed. We make love, just like protons and electrons make love as our ancestors made love and the vegetation makes love. We are part of the bones of mother earth, just like the chalk-rocks (indeed, millions of years of bones piled to mountains), we are part of the co2 cycle that pushes those limes under the seas, makes them drift as continents, are pushed under other continents to make vulcano's and the new fires in mother earth, in the cosmos.
It's a way of looking at life, a clifhanger to remind us that we are part of a cycle, that love and life are from the eons and not only from some short lived humans.

anyway, mountain above, fire within, a nice theory and title: 22

It's cool trojan. I can't spect everyone to like them all anyways. It is therapy for me to make the images and that is where the beauty is! :brickwall:

Meng- Nice stash of photo's and images.

Thank ya kindly, AQ. Was fun revamping a few and dusting some others off. Obviously lots of credit goes to LiSe for her beautiful photos. About half way through making these, I was seeing too many redundant images, variations of my southwestern motif and such. LiSe had been experimenting all along with photography, some of which seemed to match my idea of hexagrams, making adding verse to them natural.

I encourage you to go on expressing yourself. I think you have a special something, a unique perspective to offer. I notice that you like to mix medias. I only experimented with that a little, as in my hex 3, where I used a landscape to paint over. Fun stuff. :)

Did i say i didn't like it ? You put words in my mouth. I only asked you to show me how you saw the 27 in there thats all because i couldn't see it. That doesn't mean i didn't like it or thought it was bad .

I presume this means if i can't see what someone else sees I can't ask them to show me or they will think I am saying its bad ! Or at least i can't ask you anyway....because so far you have told me I said your pic was bad and that i didn't like it where i said nothing of the sort. If i can't see an association in a picture it doesn't mean I'm saying its not there I'm simply saying its my limitation that 'i can't see it...please show me...I'm curious how you see it'

Maria, may I ask how you created that? Is that digital or r/t?

its a painting of mine. I like that techique, but the original was not very good. (haven't found the way to do it as i want ) So I scaned it and fixed it with the program Luis proposed . Half real half digital.

oh, and for the text i used photobucket.

Thank you AQ . :)

Not its not pastel . I have use only acrylics and to some spots ( grass and mountains ) I have used gesso too. As for the sky I mixed acrylic with a medium. The fire is mostly digital as for the hands and the steps are a little bit manipulated digitally because at the original came out very dark .

Do you use pastels ? I find it very difficult to tame them , lol

My young pastel experiences were fixated on a fishing scene, a blue leaping marlin, a thousand feet of line played out, the marlin clearly winning the battle, but the fisherman persevering, half hidden from view in the sea's deep swells.

A bit later in life, I dreamed I was battling that fish, and I kept trying to hand the rod off to my father: a skilled and powerful fisherman. He kept saying, "no, you can handle this." As I kept persevering and the marlin drew closer to the boat, the lighter it felt, until by the time I lifted the line out of the water, there was nothing there. I didn't let it get off, it didn't break off - it became less the closer it was, until it was nothing.

LOL!!! NICE. haha Yeah, I bet his a$$ is sore from sitting so long. Could use a better cushion. I wonder if all father and sons have fish stories. :) My brother caught this gigundo muski in Canada when it was just him and my dad in the boat. They talk about it all the time. Its a really great memory of their's and becoming one of mine ( even tho I wasn't there :/ )

I do like that your father in the dream said you could do it yourself. And Nothingness is symbolic in and of itself. :)

ps. My guru might also say, hey, I need a razor. I'm sick of this beard. or This mountain is sharp.
