Yes, it was. But true sentiment nonetheless. What could the sage floating on a mountain point (ouch) possibly have to say to either the individual seeker or to the human race, that it hasn't heard a thousand times? With Google all knowledge is known to mankind. So maybe that's what he says: "Google it."

But what if he chose to reckon with the answer himself? Wouldn't his answer rely on the question? Otherwise he probably has nothing to say.

He is like the blue marlin, who, the closer you get to, the less he is evident. What is he in the end but nothing? What does he aspire to be but nothing? What is he driven to attain but nothing?

What can such a sage or fool have to teach a young noble one?

Let's say you weren't around three weeks, took a vacation from your sage. What would the sage be thinking or doing on his own without you?

my thoughts are..

Thanks. It's 1.3 though, restless dragon.

Perhaps nothing. :)

As I view it, one is activated and then is repeated, between sage and seeker. But do either of them know something the other doesn't, if all we need do is ask ourselves? We seek this big answer - why? what is the meaning of life? what am I here to do, what is my mission? etc.

Meanwhile, the sage thinks and does what? Does he cease to exist when we get too far, or too close? From my observation, he sure seems to.

If infinite possibilities stood directly behind you, how fast would you have to turn around before they all reduced to just one perceived image? Infinitely fast? Then, there would be no distinction between anything, not even a reference point for something, such as wisdom or compassion to attach itself to.

That's quite a bit about my view of the dynamics of hex 4. The line between teacher and student is a two way dynamic. And I don't think a "sage" is apart from the seeker's questions. I'm not sure they have any other purpose, unless its to build up some dept with karma awhile, to burn off later, keep the ole wheel turnin'.

AQ, your hex 4 graphic sure did its job in me, causing quite a bit of thought and questions.

Your happy 5 chocolate girl is a delight. Never "looked at" 5 that way before, waiting for a tiger to pass by before approaching the river. It's a very interesting image in light of 5.

Got another one to share yet? :mischief: (me greedy tiger)

Well Meng, You have got me thinking too. I am thinking more about the "sage"/"student" relationship. Strangely it has left me with a feeling of aloneness AND oneness. A strange combo of both. It's left me with a sense that all I can do is search for my inner sage and better myself and find myself and THAT is the reason I am here: To find that part of myself which no one else shares and run with it. To till the earth with what I have found for it's betterment, while all at the same time realizing I am here with others going thru the same experience. They are all trying to find their inner sage and morsel of original light. (Perhaps from the heaven's when the big bang occurred/something I believe is in us all) We are all stars and are all one. Also, other people help set reflections for us to see ourselves but it is our own eyes that do the seeing.

hmm... which hexagram is next

and... if you are a tiger, maybe I should wait! haha

Edit: I guess I was trying to say also, with 5, that the sun is covered cause of clouds, but will return when the tiger leaves and to know this. So I put a little "mini sun" on the girl's head, for her consciousness of this. And the rain is feeding that "thought". Idk. I shouldn't explain everything. but I just did.

I know, explaining it can diminish something like this, but I'm glad you did explain it. I wondered about the rain drops.

For the spirit of the time, I took a picture I drew of a dragon and tweaked it. I had a couple of ideas for this Hexagram. Here is one of them.

My neighbor made these candles holders and asked if I'd shoot them for him. The glass comes from old and torn down power poles.

I find the horse shoes and hearts as relevant as the lighted candles and glass covers.

I should probably include a bail of hay or growing grass, since that's where the horse or cow's light comes from.

I don't think I read anywhere that the horse was linked with Hex 30, just the cow. But it's odd, cause in my hex images of 30 i put a horse in the shadow of the guy tilling the land for some reason. It just sort of happened. Is there talk of a horse that you know in 30? btw. It's cool how you can look around and see things that relate to the hex's in just everyday life!

A mare is associated with 2, so not directly with 30, no. But I live around quite a few horses, and most of their day is spent grazing calmly, and what they eat becomes their life fire. If anything, I think horses show their fire more than cows, in terms of their spirit and attitude.
