It is interesting how if we allow ourselves to sit for a bit with a hexagram we don't understand or agree with, it will eventually make sense and in fact we will come to realize it is indeed exactly the right answer after all.

I think the tests will come if we find more 37uc readings about somewhat similar situations, and see if any of this helps.

Much as I like the "center of domestic life" concept, I'm not sure it would have helped me find my keys even if I'd known to think of it like that. I probably would have been more likely to call my sofa the center of my home, since that is where I spend more time than any other single spot. But then again, a sofa isn't hex 37-ish in the same way a stove or washing machine is (a sofa being more a place for resting, rather than a place for domesticity per se).

I do think what you said about constancy is - at least - a large part of what Yi was telling me with 37: it would be "fruitful" for me to "keep looking." That was how I found them - I just kept retracing my steps until something caused me to glance inside the washing machine.

Thinking about Trojina's ideas about keys and home and the sign Cancer I remembered that the sign Cancer rules home and laundry and washing machines...

Re-posted from the Top Tips for Successful Living thread:

How i stopped losing my keys.
'A place for every thing, and every thing in its place'

I put them in the same place every time i get home,
Then i dont have to think about where they are,
Because they are in the place designated for them,
Their little home.

Same with glasses and phone.

I've received 37uc three times this week, mostly in terms of 'what is most productive to focus on at this time" The question had the potential to be quite complex since my mother passed on early this week, there's some turmoil amongst family members over various specifics, then there's my own relationship with my mother. I was talking to her as though she was sitting on the couch for a good hour, visiting, though she lived clear across this wide country, before I received a phone call from my niece saying she had passed away one hour ago. This came as no shock as she had been placed in hospice care two days earlier, and deceased relatives always seem to be drawn to me upon their transition, often having to do with either their confusion of how to meet their new realities, and their excitement of being young again and without their old body's diseases and malfunctions; their "glorified bodies" or body of light, to which I encourage them to hold onto, not letting the cares of this world cause them to fall to lower and more dense, weighty, gross forms, and then to wander on without fear.

I broke each of these possibilities down to a separate reading to determine if each was specifically what the Yi was drawing my attention toward, yet there were a variety of "no" type answers, through going into effective action/no action specifics. Still it appeared as though none of these fit what the Yi was drawing me to. I then considered a broader sense of family, or as written, family of man. Again, I asked about that application, and it didn't seem to apply very well.

Alas, I was left with one more possible point of application, which led to a an area that I had been neglecting, with my mind having been scattered all over the place, namely the integration of myself, and thus the word integration seemed to hold the key to what the Yi had been pointing me toward.

The hierarchy or order of the family is expressed through each of 8 trigrams: heaven representing father, earth the mother, thunder the eldest son, water the middle son, mountain the youngest son, wind/wood the eldest daughter, fire the second daughter, and marsh the youngest daughter. The effective integration of these eight elements, with each having their own function and place in the integration of family represents ones own function-ability to work as a whole being or organism.

This made sense to me, as parts of me seemed to be overly focused upon, while others were being entirely neglected. So my focus has been shifted to self-integration, paying attention to each one of these individuals within my self, and making sure that each was performing the part they are designed to function, and to stop any bickering amongst them, other than what is normal in a healthy and functioning family, such as in line 3. A family isn't an army after all, such as demonstrated in the Trapp family in Sound of Music, with four daughters, a nanny for a wife and an overbearing (sea Captain) father. This has therefore become my focus of these repeated 37uc readings - integration of self, with the mother at the center of the family within, and the father tending to matters without, and each of the trigram children performing their proper functions and relations to each other family member. I've more work to do regarding this, which is likely why I've received them so persistently. This is not without outward effects of the fire below, but it begins first within, before it can effect my outer life or those physical family members, which has been in a state of increased disarray.

ps FWIW it strikes me particularly how we have gone, in this 37 thread, from the trivia of family/domestic life, lost keys (no offence Lisa ;)) to the most serious of events, death of a parent. All those things go on under one 'roof' so to speak.

I was imagining/picturing that only last night. My mom always has been an animal lover so it's a natural image, so long as he doesn't shed on her pretty dress, haha :) she's always been very feminine and not short of vanity in that regard. Do dogs shed in heaven? I actually asked myself . thanks

To your fine print question/point: I regarded Mojo as my son, but in ways also as my teacher or master. I mean, he had it together in ways I could only wish I did. He reminded me a great deal of White Dog in those early dreams, a spirit guide dog, a shaman in a dog suit. I asked him to guide my ex wife, who was present when I had to put Mojo down, having passed over only hours before, and I told him to go with her and guide her. He took his eyes off her a moment, looked at me and smiled, having a final mission given him before he left. I shouted to the mountain, asking for his body to be an acceptable sacrifice to the mountain and the carnivores that lived there, and was answered by the loud caws of two crows. I soon after learned that crows are considered messengers between transitional realms by our indigenous peoples. So, yes, I suppose we are one family.

When practising mediumship in a group several times the dog came to me just before the owner. I was able to describe the dog and hence the person knew who the dog had belonged to. The owner came too but was more loitering behind the dog. I think this may have been because I find the appearance of dog on my inner sight less of a shock than the person.

Amazing story of how Mojo passed just after your ex wife died and became her guide. I think that's what you meant, I got a bit muddled...if you meant white dog guided her but I think you meant Mojo ?

You said your mum was proud of her looks not long ago....well she'll be 22 again now I guess :) Still it's a sad time nonetheless.

Yes on mixed emotions, which I think is how it's meant to be. I asked about exploring her departure further and got an immediate warning in 26.1. Whoa, ok, I get it.. not my terrain, or as Brad put it, this could get rough, or something similar. Yet two days before she passed I asked what state is she headed for and received 26.6, with other lines, changing to 36. Apt and as positive as it can get, yet sad at the same time.

Yes, you understood correctly. I was on my way out to the sacred (to us and in Indian legand) mountain, with Mojo, when my son called and told me the news about his mom dying that same morning. I gave Mojo a sedative to mellow him out before having to put him down, and he kept staring and staring at something or someone that seemed only a couple yards from us. I felt her presence, and could very faintly see a human form of faded light, as though in her light body, and Mojo just kept staring at her.

Very interesting about the dog coming to you first. Makes sense to me. It may be no small coincidence that the ancient Egyptian's Anubis, half human, half dog or jackal, was the protector and guide of the human journey afterlife. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anubis

Her age, I've heard different takes on that. You already know what a Campbell fan I am, and in his Mythos lectures, he put forth that we will be 35. But I think the point is that we will be in our prime, whatever that happens to have been. A couple nights before her passing, I dreamed of my uncle and Godfather. We were in my old apartment, owned by my grandmother, his mother, and he told me to take pictures of a bunch of files in folders on the floor. I didn't know where to find a camera, and interpreted his order as to take note of the past, to remember it. The floor was shiny but tilting to one side, as though the old house was sinking into the earth, symbolizing a generation completing its cycle. He looked great, fit and handsome, dressed in gray slacks and form fitting sweater, the kind from the early 40's. He was a boxer when young, and he looked that kind of fit. His hair was thick, black and wavy, perfectly and neatly barbered, as was the appearance of my father shortly after he passed over. My uncle was in a rush to leave after telling me to take the pictures of the files, as though he had somewhere important to go to. This told me he was leaving to gather together with the family to welcome my mother. A few days before that, I dreamed the curtains of that apartment had caught fire. All these dreams told me my mom's time was soon approaching. The rotation of the ancestors was taking place. The last surviving member of that generation is my aunt, my godfather/uncle's wife. My mom would have been 96 this June.

'rotation of ancestors', I like that, like they're on a big wheel. I know how they gather when death is near. Once when my mother was very ill I sent her some healing and realised whilst doing it there was a roomful of passed ancestors participating with me...she got well that time but they were gathering.

96 is a very great age to reach. Last thing I recall you saying about her was how you'd had a good conversation with her, you said she seemed more '****' I forget the word you used, maybe compassionate or mellow, than you'd ever known her. And didn't she say she wanted to keep in good shape for your father in case he was looking ...or did I imagine that ?

Yes, she made sure she was made up, cleaned and pressed clothes, and mainly sat in an upright chair, waiting to be with my dad, and she didn't want his attention to go to some cute chick up there.

She'd stopped hinting and near the end was just saying I don't want to be here anymore, I want to be with your father. It's hard to know how to respond to that. I don't actually know what happens during these cycles. For all I know he'd been reincarnation as one of their many grandchildren or great-grandchildren. I haven't seen him in dreams in years. But if that's what happened, she'll have to learn how things work and learn to accept it. I have no idea. I'd like to think they are together.

In 2002, when my dad passed over, I'd had a vision of my grandparents, uncle and both aunts coming to me and just looking at me. No words were spoken but I knew they were there to say my dad's time was soon to come. He left a couple weeks later. He came to me in a dream, all freaked out about his young body and especially his hair, his hair, his hair! I said to him, dad, you're in heaven and all you're excited about is that you have your young full head of hair back? It just seemed weird to me because he wasn't an especially vain sorta man, but that's what he was all excited about. lol But awhile after that, maybe a couple of years, I saw him rising up from a lotus pond, completely bald, with a serene look, like a buddha. But I think that was more symbolic of my own aspirations, as my hair on top had become thin and I was buzz cutting it close to the scalp, and didn't care. But I can't say for sure.

There was an occasion when I was a medium for a woman friend whose son had just died from a heart attack. I didn't plan on it happening, but this big guy came dancing into view, light on his feet and dancing, sorta gay like, in circles, very happy. I asked the woman if her son was large and did he die of a heart attack. She said yes. I asked, did he ever do a funny kind of dancing in a circle, she laughed between her tears and said, yes, all the time! I said, he was a real comic, wasn't he, to which she affirmed. I asked, was he gay? She said yes. And the affirmations continued, including him being unhappy with her about a rose. She said she got a rose tattoo and that he disapproved. I asked, is there something else about a rose between you? She said, yes, just before he died he planted a small rose garden for me. She felt comforted by the experience. It was time, however, to clear the room and tell him it's nice meeting you but you must move on now and do not come back here. I didn't want these spirits using me or my place as a hangout, especially not the hungry ghosts.

There were other incidents like this, but I'll keep this within the context of family. I don't talk about these things often, but it's nice to hear that you have had similar experiences.

Rotation of the ancestors is an expression I picked up from some Chinese text, I don't recall which or where. The idea being that one generation of family completes their cycle here and the generation there is reborn here, yes, like a generational wheel.

Going to IM you in a bit.

The politically correct position that death is an unfathomable mystery is quickly deteriorating as the baby boomer generation ages, witnesses and shares their first hand experiences over the internet.

Thank you so much for writing this all out for us, Bruce.

..and of course, my condolences for your loss.

This is a great and interesting thread despite the fact that I don't have anything to ad myself. I do, do a lot of reading of the threads but I believe the knowledge you guys have by far surpasses what little I do and I don't always remember my experiences in regards to hexes received.

Sooo how gorgeous your mum's gone to Heaven and I'm not sure how it works with the soul reincarnation and whether we will still be reunited with out already passed over loved ones.
Thank you for sharing your stories of being a medium for incoming spirit/souls - I experience this sort of thing myself but not very often I share the stories because most people have no understanding or of experiences themselves.

Sooo, I barely know you, unlike many others who post on these threads, and I know nothing of your mom except what you've just written here, but I'm sorry for your loss.

I do believe we will see our loved ones again. I have no idea what they'll think of us after all that time, and I sometimes wonder if they will have moved on from their earthly lives to a large degree, but I hope there will still be some connection there.

(And I want to believe that dogs don't shed in heaven, nor does their fur get matted or muddy, nor do cats get hairballs. But we shall see when we get there.)

Dear Rosada, Liss, Lisa, and all who have sent kind wishes.

I say thank you not just for myself, but for all who have lost loved ones.

I wish I could know for sure that what I've written is certain, even in my own heart, but I can not. As obvious as these things sometimes appear, as into the light as the mysterious may seem, I can not say with certainty whether there even is an afterlife, nor whether there isn't. I am humbled by this experience as I am with every experience of death and the possibilities of an afterlife. In truth, I simply do not know anything other than what I experience, and those experiences may have causes that I don't understand, I can only speculate, hope for, or imagine. Was I picking up those affirmations from my friend who lost her son from the mother's strong emotions and memory, or did her son really dance into my room in the spirit?

My mom's reading before she died was 26 with line 6 (and others), and changed to 36. Only minutes ago, I dared to ask where is mom now? And received 36uc. I dared ask the broader question, being quite certain the Yi would answer with 62, is there consciousness after death? and it did. I waited and asked again, and got 16. That's an almost predictable pattern to my sequence of questions. Perhaps 26.6 was her state while living.. peace and surrender, given to heaven's will, I can't say. I'd rather sound smart, wise, certain, but alas I am dumb as a post. I'm afraid, Rosada, it is all still an unfathomable mystery to me, and all I can do is to humble myself before it. It does not belong to me, I belong to it. I follow what I do not understand but accept on its own terms.

Here is another 37uc experience from Cornucopia from post 10 on this thread http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/friends/showthread.php?18539-Complaint-dismissed

To summarise her question was ;

What action if any will Del Management take to resolve the problems Bill in Apt 1119 is causing for everyone.

Hexagram 37 unchanging

This is very interesting indeed! The property manager is a woman and she told me she is working on it. That it's gone to legal department and that it's very complicated. I'm hoping that the woman's persistance who is running the household (managing the building)will bring rewards and that it's referring to her!

So a tenant was causing serious disturbance to Cornucopia who had complained before with little success. She has hopes for the female property manager sorting the issue out and finally she won through via this woman

And more good news I was told the corporation will be transferring me to a safer apartment. They discovered he is a dangerous and violent man who has been threatening he would kill people. My safety is at risk and if he moves out he can return to harm me. My reports helped with the eviction process at tribunal court that's why they are protecting me. I was praised. I saved everyone from a psychopath who could lose it at any point and start shooting or stabbing people!

This was quite a result I think ! There were other casts in the thread but I picked out the 37uc part when Cornucopia asked the above specific question.

So how does 37 apply here? Keeping order in the home, maybe? Enforcing rules?

The way it turned out, I keep thinking of hex 21, "Harvest in making use of legal proceedings" (Oracle), "The ancient kings brought light to punishments and enforced the laws" (Image).

I don't know, I am just observing each experience as it stands, letting it speak for itself. I mean I am not setting out to make an overall theory of what 37uc means, we know we can't do that. We cannot all agree on how 37 uc applied here, thankfully, it's just the answer she got and the way it worked out for her in her particular situation.

It's a vast answer (as all answers are) as it takes into account her whole life, her circumstances and so on (as all answers do) You seem almost to be asking 'why wasn't it 21 ?' Well it wasn't 21 because 21 wasn't her answer :D

For myself I particularly like the 'woman's constancy' here. I don't know why I just do. A woman has a problem in her home and another woman sorts it out for her. I like it as a story but I wouldn't want to attempt to pin down the meaning here..,that could be quite a reductionist thing to do couldn't it ? If you look back to my first post on the thread I referred to my own experience of 37uc as about each occupying it's own place, fulfilling it's own role. That may be internally or externally. In this situation the property manager did fulfil her role. Those who were responsible took responsibility, including the tenant Cornucopia.

I don't claim that view of this answer is the right one....it's one way to see it that happens to fit in with my initial view ;). so it works for me. It may not for others who may see something entirely different in it.

Cornucopia's understanding of 37uc here would have to take precedence. In the quote she particularly noticed her property manager was a woman and that 37 says 'woman's constancy' is favourable....that is the part of 37uc she took, intuitively, as important...and she was right. That doesn't mean that aspect will be to the fore in all 37uc answers though...We have many very different 37uc experiences here...all giving us another aspect of how it can play out. Right now I am happy to let the experiences speak for themselves. That is I'm not able to say how 37uc applied to other's experience...they can say that. :)

Yes, okay, true. I've seen that point made here before, now that I think of it...another example might be that if a patient and her doctor both asked the I Ching an identical question about the patient's illness, at the same time even, they would likely each get a different answer, because what the patient needs to know and would understand is different from what her doctor needs to know and would understand.

I saw 37 in that case as representing the large company, and the local manager would have to be the key person to initiate and follow through with acting as the spokesperson for that family. I may have been wrong about the last part though, since I think Cornucopia connected with the CEO, who I suppose could be seen as the mother or father of that family. But we don't really know what role the local manager may have played in that action. She may have been the mother of her own family of apartments or condos, who was being the advocate for her daughter to the father CEO. In any case, they are acting as a unified group in some way.

For myself I particularly like the 'woman's constancy' here.

That's what jumped out in my eyes too. Can't tell about which woman was tho. Maybe both. Conucopia's initial question was why her complain was dismissed. H61 , imo, seems to say it was not at all dismissed. Besides the common idea of 61 as truth, the Image says "
Thus the superior man discusses criminal cases
In order to delay executions."

Personally , I see that "delay execution" play a equally important role as the "truth" part of 61.

Maybe this is why, Lisa, 21 didn't appear ( speculation!!!) because the legal procedure has already have started , and laws for relevant incidences are already established. I guess its because there is a 21 around, C, make the claim . Yi, imo, tried to highlight that and what C was Seeing as been ignored , was just the necessary investigations that Woman had to do to have a case. and maybe 37 was a message to c that the other woman was working on that.

To play a bit more with those readings, 38>61 would be Yi message to C to preserve, and 37 for the other woman... but still can't exclude any other view.

I got 37u yesterday and has perplex me a lot because , as far as I know, a certain action will not yield results as there is a blockage that this action can't make it through, yet Yi said 37. Only way to read it and make some sense is that , as Trojina also mention , is fulfill my role. When I got 37 usually i ask two question.a) Which is my role in this situation B) which course of actions should I take to fulfill it.

What "furthers" represent in 37, is still unclear to me. I just don't assume that everything will work out and a result for the specific issue will be the one we wish or its another kind of "furthering" . In C's case its clear , at least for now, that the problem is solved. But the question to all of you is if its always the case ??? Have you ever encounter 37, the situation outside has not change but there is an inner resolution ? Curious to hear your experiences on that.

I like that! Often when I get hex 37 I start trying to think of what it's telling me about my actual home, or what my family has to do with the situation, and I forget to pay attention to the roles aspect.

As for Cornucopia's 37uc reading, what Trojina said, and what Cornucopia said herself in her thread, makes good sense (now that it's been pointed out to me, since I didn't see it myself) - that Yi was saying there are people, women, as it happens, who are working on this, and their "constancy" will pay off.

Probably "a woman's constancy" needn't only apply to situations involving women, but when it fits, it fits, right? :)

Efter some time of working with i ching both Words and images i felt inspired to share with you my experience of 37.

First some background: yesterday i received hex 1 and was meditating on its meaning until some day during the day i realised it is about feelings and my difficulties in dealing with them that is put Words on them and acknowlidging them. I was maditating on trigram "Kan" - water image and it relation with feelings, and then i come up with the following idea : the water is descending, fire is ascending. Yes - i have to jump into the abyss- descend and get better understanding of my feelings! And so I did.

Next day - that is today i have got this Beautiful 37. So i dug deeper and this is how i interpret it:
Line one - trust yourself, use the Resources you have, you do not need anything outside you to be complete. What a relief!
Line two-Control your emotions "Our emotions are probably untrustworthy when it comes to providing us with a basis for action... The Brain The Last Frontier (taken from James Dekorne analysis)
Line 3-Get a grip on yourself - Control your emotions! Oh, so true!
Line 4- Control of emotions is a very important element of self-Control .... (same source as above)
And James Dekornes commentary hit me right in my Eyes: Our emotions must serve us, not rule us.
Line 5-Nourish your inner harmony and attend to your legitimate needs- yes this resonates with me beautifully :)
Line 6 Self -discipline is the parent of self respect

My own conlusion that applies to my experience of 37 : i too have my whims and desires, things i want, but with some help from observing, acknowliding my whims i could get a pretty good understanding of the reasons why I had them in the first Place and when i dug deeper and really tried to be sincere with myself and asked myself what makes me in balance and harmony i came to that by facing one of my fears, in this case dealing with feelings = descending into the Deep Waters, in the abyss of hex 1 i can get a more clear understanding.

And yes i have got some help from images from a Dream i had a night Before, and it was about finding an answer to a question i had. In this Dream i was offerred to receive the answer if i Went down on a staircase on a boat that would lead me under the water Surface, and i remember myself saying, no i cannot do that i am afraid of going under water, but then beacause i knew that by finding the answer to my question i could help my son i decided to go down "descend the staircase...

I got 37 unchanging yesterday when I asked What if I move to X next year?
It seems like a great answer, I think.
The way I see it, Yi is not necessarily telling me to "stay where you are, stay home", but more likely wants me to contemplate about who my family is and where I feel comfortable, where I feel like I belong... where I feel "at home". I read 37 is also a great hexagram in regard to healing so it can suggest to find such a place where one's health, both mental and physical, can prosper.

I tend to think of 37 uc as finding a place to store things in, the home. And when in the home finding the right place for things.

My little contribution,
I'm moving in the next days to a new house, in the beginning I'll share it with the actual tenant, a friend, who's looking for another place but she hasn't found it yet, so the situation makes me a bit worried, the cohabitation, I'm not used to it anymore, and the fact I'll be living in a mess unless I've not the space for myself and my stuff..
so I asked about the move, and the best attitude I should keep, and the answer is 37 uc,
it's perfect, isn'it?
Take care of the house and of the people living there too, I guess.
I like it and makes me feel more positive!

I am helping a local Dance teacher - she wants someone to help when she is away and has ideas for developing her school. She is a fmtastic person and it has been really brilliant working with her - I feel 10 years younger and enjoying dancing in a less formal setting. (Schools). My skills as a teacher help when I am have situations where the stereo breaks or the lighting goes - I can think on my feet. I am not as good a dancer as I was at 20 but am not bad and it's just great fun. I thought I was helping here ....

I had an email yesterday from some of the ladies wanting their class - and I offered to take it (my colleague had said that if there was enough interest it would be great to run it). I have just had an email from her (she is in sunny climates on holiday) saying that she is unhappy about me taking over - and that when she gets back we should discuss the pennies ... I said that I didn't want to be paid at the moment - so I am not sure what it is about. My daughter aid she is sitting by the pool having drunk too much and is getting bored and worried ..
I asked just now about this person and my relationship and got 37Uc

I think it clarifies things really. Just let things flow and see. I don't need the classes - and actually have turned down other work this weekend. But it is good for my soul and body dancing and flinging myself around ...

37 as "under the same roof as" or "under the umbrella of" -

I was taking my car to the mechanic for an oil change and to have a mysterious clicking noise from the area of the right front wheel investigated. I also noticed the day before that my tire pressure gauge light was on.

Now, monitoring tire pressure and adding air when needed is one of those things a person can do for themselves, and probably should. But too much of the time I don't bother, for any number of bad reasons.

Still, it's a little embarrassing to admit that to mechanics and ask them if, by the way, they would put air in your tires.

But my appointment was for first thing in the morning, and squeezing this in myself at the 11th hour would be a big upheaval.

Question: Advice re: my tires needing air?

I ended up not doing anything before the appointment. (By default, not because I understood the reading.)

I also didn't say anything to the mechanics. I wanted to just see what happened, and if need be I could put air in after the appointment. But afterwards the light was no longer on. So now I think that checking tire pressure might be something that's routinely included with an oil change. It's not listed as such on the garage's website, but it did get fixed, and without the mechanics mentioning it to me, which they probably would have if it was something extra.
